Hello!

My name is Jonathan Mitchell and I'm a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia where I studied sports convergence journalism and Spanish. Originally from the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas, I am a fiend for good Mexican food, Netflix, and sports.​

My experience during my time at Mizzou was wide ranging. I ran social media in both Spanish and English for an educational business that used augmented reality to teach children about international news topics. I helped produce an international news show, spent a semester researching a business and distribution model for a non-profit investigative publication, and covered local news with some sports sprinkled in for fun. A lifelong sports fan, my coverage of the genre focused more on non-traditional sports like MMA fighting and Atlatl throwing while at Mizzou.

I used those experiences to help form my journalistic perspective as I moved into high school sports reporting for the Picayune Item Newspaper in Picayune, Mississippi. The two years in small town Mississippi taught me more about journalism and myself than I thought possible as I helped put out five publications each week during a period that included the COVID-19 pandemic.
